Daily Responsibilities:
The Mortgage Underwriting Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the assets evaluated comply with all relevant investor guidelines, leveraging a thorough understanding of requirements and regulations. As the Underwriter, you will be accountable for the quality and precision of your decisions.

The Underwriter will:

  • Evaluate a comprehensive range of mortgage loans, with a preference for FHA loans.
  • Scrutinize all mortgage applications and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with clients to prepare mortgage applications and related documentation as necessary, assisting in resolving any outstanding issues.
  • Engage with compliance officers to ensure adherence to Federal, State, and local regulations concerning all mortgage and loan materials.
  • Make timely decisions to approve or deny mortgage applications.
  • Perform additional related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in mortgage underwriting is required.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage underwriting principles and basic automated underwriting systems.
  • Proficiency in using basic automated underwriting systems.
  • Knowledge of mortgage laws and regulations is essential, including the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act.
  • Familiarity with state and federal agency mortgage loan guidelines and regulations is advantageous.

Compensation:
Individual salaries may vary based on several factors, including specific role, geographic location/market data, and skills and experience as outlined below:

  • Lower range - Developing skills and experience in the role.
  • Mid-range - Experience and skills align with proficiency in the role.
  • Higher range - Experience and skills provide added value beyond typical role requirements.
