JOB SUMMARY

The Manager of Accounting plays a pivotal role within the financial department, demanding a high level of commitment, enthusiasm, and the capability to juggle multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.

This position is accountable for leading the Staff Accounting team, ensuring all facets of accounting are managed effectively. Responsibilities include delivering timely and precise financial reports to both internal and external parties, adhering to GAAP standards, and aiding in the transition to HGB standards. The role also involves the establishment and upkeep of policies, procedures, and communication within the department, along with reviewing journal entries and trial balance accounts, and coordinating the annual external audit process.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership and Development
  • Oversees the recruitment, training, motivation, and evaluation of a high-performing team, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Conducts regular performance assessments and addresses any performance-related issues. Identifies opportunities for team member development.
  • Maintains effective communication within the department, ensuring a smooth flow of information between all levels of staff.
  • Facilitates scheduled team meetings to discuss updates and ongoing projects.

Financial Reporting and Analysis
  • Ensures robust financial control mechanisms are in place, including account reconciliations and reviewing adjustments for period close.
  • Manages the monthly closing process, ensuring accurate financial balances are maintained.
  • Ensures compliance with US GAAP in general ledger bookings and leads technical accounting inquiries.
  • Oversees the preparation of accurate GAAP financial statements and collaborates with the parent company for HGB reporting.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of policies aimed at enhancing accounting methods and internal controls.
  • Assists with various projects, including tax-related tasks, financial reporting, inventory analysis, and cash forecasting.

Compliance and Audit Coordination
  • Facilitates the annual external audit process.
  • Implements audit recommendations to strengthen internal controls and processes.
  • Identifies areas for improvement within the Staff Accounting domain and initiates necessary changes.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides leadership not only to the Accounting team but also across all departments regarding proper accounting practices and controls.
  • Assists with sensitive payroll and headcount issues.
  • Collaborates with Accounts Payable during payment processing.
  • Supports other departments with financial inquiries or calculations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • May require occasional travel.

QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient in software applications including Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, and SAP-BW.
  • Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision to ensure timely project completion.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on team motivation and development.
  • Competent in analyzing financial data and preparing comprehensive reports.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with meticulous attention to detail.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • MBA is preferred.
  • 6-8 years of relevant experience, including significant team management experience.
  • CPA certification is mandatory.
