About You:

As a key member of the Vail Resorts Finance team, the Shared Services Team is focused on developing leaders and delivering value. The Inventory Accounting - Senior Assistant plays a vital role in supporting all facets of inventory accounting at Vail Resorts. This position will assist the Inventory Accounting Analyst and the Inventory Accounting Manager with operational tasks and monthly closing activities. Responsibilities encompass journal entry preparation, account reconciliation, variance analysis, and various ad hoc tasks as required. The majority of daily activities involve communication with field teams, inventory adjustments, cost correction entries, transfer issues, and system research for resolving problems. This role demands meeting deadlines, meticulous attention to detail, a proactive approach to change and process improvement, and a collaborative spirit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform month-end closing tasks, including creating accurate journal entries to reconcile inventory and preparing supporting documentation.
  • Communicate with field teams regarding inventory counts to ensure timely adjustments.
  • Participate actively in team meetings.
  • Support external teams such as stores, distribution centers, and regional managers.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including accounts payable, operations, general ledger accounting, and sales audit.
  • Assist with month-end account reconciliations.
  • Conduct administrative tasks related to physical inventory counts.
  • Provide field reporting as needed.
  • Deliver monthly inventory metrics to senior management.
  • Generate ad-hoc reports as requested.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience.
  • Experience with high-volume inventory is advantageous.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing business requirements.
  • Effective communication skills with all levels of stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to excellence and the ability to foster strong working relationships.
  • Capable of thriving in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Familiarity with PeopleSoft Financials, Merchandise Management System (MMS), Coupa, and OnBase is preferred.
