About You:
As a vital member of the Vail Resorts Finance team, the Shared Services division is focused on cultivating leadership and delivering value. The Inventory Accounting - Senior Assistant plays a key role in supporting all facets of inventory accounting. This position assists the Inventory Accounting Analyst and Manager with operational tasks and monthly closing processes. Key responsibilities include preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, conducting variance analysis, and performing various ad hoc tasks as needed. Daily activities primarily involve communication with field teams, managing inventory adjustments, processing cost corrections, addressing transfer issues, and conducting system research for problem resolution. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, meet deadlines consistently, embrace change, and demonstrate a collaborative spirit with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Job Responsibilities:
- Execute month-end closing activities, including the creation of accurate journal entries to adjust inventory, compiling supporting documentation, and reconciling inventory balance sheet accounts.
- Engage with field teams to ensure accurate counts are received prior to making monthly adjusting journal entries.
- Participate actively in team meetings.
- Provide support to external teams, including stores, distribution centers, and regional managers.
- Assist internal teams such as accounts payable, operations, general ledger accounting, and sales audit.
- Facilitate month-end account reconciliations.
- Conduct administrative tasks related to physical inventory counts.
- Deliver field reporting as required.
- Supply monthly inventory metrics to senior management.
- Perform ad-hoc reporting as requested.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience.
- Experience with high-volume inventory is advantageous.
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to evolving business needs.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of stakeholders.
- Self-motivated individual with a commitment to excellence, capable of building strong relationships within the organization and demonstrating leadership in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft Financials, Merchandise Management System (MMS), Coupa, and OnBase is preferred.
