Position Overview
As a key member of the Gogo Business Aviation Finance team, the Inventory Accounting Supervisor is responsible for executing various accounting functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and standards set by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB).

Key Responsibilities
This role involves overseeing an inventory accountant and ensuring a precise and timely accounting close process, aligning with corporate and operational accounting goals. You will:

  • Collaborate with the Senior Accounting Manager to coordinate team activities and prioritize tasks for effective completion.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support the team in achieving objectives and key results while managing deadlines efficiently.
  • Prepare and review reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and journal entries.
  • Take ownership of the accounting processes related to Inventory, Warranty Accounting, and Cost of Equipment Revenue.
  • Contribute as a vital member of monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of inventory transactions, ensuring complete and accurate accounting in partnership with Operations.
  • Coordinate the annual physical inventory count and assist with spare location counts.
  • Utilize judgment to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day operational challenges.
  • Develop and implement initiatives for business process improvements surrounding month-end close and financial analysis.
  • Engage in internal and external audits by reviewing schedules, ensuring proper documentation, and providing evidence of controls performed.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 4-7 years of relevant accounting experience, including at least two years in a publicly traded company.
  • 0-2 years of supervisory experience.
  • A CPA Certificate or status as a CPA candidate.

Required Skills and Attributes
Essential skills include:

  • Experience with ERP systems, particularly Microsoft Navision.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and PCAOB standards, along with current accounting regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective management of deadlines and priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in evaluating and enhancing processes for operational efficiency.
  • A passion for mentoring a small team of Staff Accountants.

Preferred Skills
Desirable qualifications include:

  • Experience in inventory accounting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical and analytical approach.
  • Comfort with various computer software, including accounting and management information systems, spreadsheets, and databases.
