The role of the Accounting Manager is vital within the financial department, requiring a high level of commitment, enthusiasm, and the capability to manage various priorities in a dynamic setting.
The Accounting Manager oversees the Staff Accounting team, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting for both internal and external stakeholders. This includes adherence to GAAP standards and assistance with the transition to HGB standards. The role also involves the implementation and maintenance of policies, procedures, and effective communication within the department, as well as the review of journal entries and financial reports.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, select, train, motivate, evaluate, and retain a high-performing team, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Conduct timely performance evaluations and address any performance issues. Identify training and development opportunities for team members.
- Establish and maintain policies and procedures, ensuring effective communication within the department.
- Hold regular team meetings to discuss updates and project statuses.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Maintain robust financial control structures, including account reconciliations and adjustments to the general ledger during period close.
- Oversee the monthly closing process to ensure accurate financial balances.
- Ensure that general ledger entries comply with US GAAP and lead technical accounting inquiries.
- Supervise the preparation of accurate and timely GAAP financial statements and collaborate with the parent company for HGB reporting.
- Assist in developing and implementing policies aimed at enhancing accounting methods and internal controls.
- Support various projects, including tax needs, financial reporting, inventory analysis, and cash forecasting.
Compliance and Audit Coordination
- Facilitate the annual external audit process.
- Implement audit recommendations to strengthen internal controls and processes.
- Identify improvement areas within the Staff Accounting function and implement necessary changes.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership across all departments regarding accounting practices and controls.
- Assist with sensitive payroll and headcount matters.
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable on weekly payment proposals, including wire and ACH processing.
- Support other departments with financial inquiries or calculations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Travel may be required up to 15% of the time.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, and SAP-BW.
- Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively at all organizational levels.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, ensuring timely project completion.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with a focus on team motivation and development.
- Ability to interpret agreements and implement relevant provisions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

- Proficient in analyzing financial data and preparing reports.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
- An MBA is preferred.
- 6-8 years of relevant experience, including significant team management experience.
- CPA certification is required.
