Position Overview:

  • Softworld, a Kelly Company, is seeking a versatile engineer to participate in all stages of design, development, and operation of advanced robotic systems.
  • This role focuses on Robotics Control Software and Systems Engineering, with the objective of innovating and enhancing robotic manipulation systems.
  • Responsibilities include developing and troubleshooting control systems for novel motion technologies, creating new workflows, designing user interfaces, executing integration processes, and collaborating with cross-functional software teams.
  • As a robotics engineer, you will contribute to planning development milestones, designing and implementing control features, and overseeing operations within our robotic fleet.
  • The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial and innovative, eager to tackle complex challenges in a collaborative environment.
  • You will engage with a variety of technical challenges and play a crucial role in translating business needs into effective systems while prototyping concepts in collaboration with technology leaders.
  • Familiarity with core programming languages and technologies such as CodeSys, EtherCAT, structured text, and object-oriented languages like Python or C++ is essential.
  • This position offers the opportunity to address unique challenges daily and work alongside skilled engineers to transform the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive critical engineering decisions that influence device management across global fulfillment sites.
  • Implement, deploy, and troubleshoot motion control systems, including material handling systems and custom robotic solutions.
  • Collaborate with team members, including robotics software engineers, software development managers, applied scientists, and product managers.

Daily Activities:

  • Engage hands-on with the robotics team in a laboratory setting, with occasional visits to support robotic systems in pilot locations.
  • Participate in all phases of the product development lifecycle, from initial design to final integration and field support.
  • Conduct experiments, gather data, and develop new features critical to the success of the program.

Basic Qualifications:

Essential Experience:

  • Analyzing Allen-Bradley functions and translating that code into Siemens PLC.
  • Rewriting PLC programs in Siemens TIA Portal, including ladder logic, function block diagrams, structured text, and other relevant programming languages.
  • 2-3 years of experience in control systems engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in motion controls, such as material handling systems and actuated systems.
  • 2+ years of experience developing solutions across various platforms, including Siemens and Rockwell, with knowledge of block formats, microcontrollers, PCs, and mobile devices.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Robotics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Controls, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with modern object-oriented programming languages such as C++ or Python.
  • Familiarity with code version control systems, such as git, svn, or Code Commit.
  • Experience with industrial robotic arms or custom actuated hardware systems.
