Position Overview

We are in search of a Manager of Industrial Controls Engineering to become a vital part of our Hardware R&D team. This key position will report directly to the Director of Industrial Controls Engineering, where you will be responsible for the precise execution of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) development and deployment strategies while advancing our strategic objectives. As a senior leader, your role will be crucial in ensuring our team delivers dependable, high-quality solutions for our clients, fostering a culture of innovation to propel our technological progress, ensuring smooth collaboration with other stakeholders, and enhancing operational effectiveness.

Team Mission

The Hardware R&D team consists of pioneers in warehouse robotics, innovating within a structured research and development environment. Our goal is to create state-of-the-art robotic solutions that redefine efficiency and functionality in warehouse operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guide a team of Industrial Controls Engineers on various projects and initiatives.
  • Organize work to adhere to deadlines, budget constraints, and performance standards.
  • Provide technical leadership, managing complex projects and offering guidance to team members based on your expertise.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of team members, nurturing a culture of continuous learning.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, complete technical development assessments, and assist in career progression through training sessions and workshops.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to achieve departmental goals.
  • Oversee the implementation of new control system features and the enhancement of existing solutions, including PLC and HMI technologies.
  • Work closely with Release Management to ensure smooth updates and deployments of PLC and HMI systems for clients, whether on-site or remotely.
  • Address emergencies and other challenging scenarios.
  • Assist clients in resolving unexpected issues at production sites.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% - to headquarters and various client locations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in automated systems engineering, specifically in the design and implementation of Industrial Control systems utilizing PLCs, HMIs, and Drives.
  • At least 8 years of programming experience with PLCs, HMIs, and related equipment for Industrial Control Systems.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience managing teams with highly technical resources.
  • Strong background in troubleshooting complex automated systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in programming Rockwell PLCs (ControlLogix, GuardLogix).
  • In-depth knowledge of Industrial networks.
  • Understanding of Power Systems for designing drive controls.
  • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Experience with AC/DC Drive Control Architecture.
  • Experience in developing and programming Human Machine Interfaces (Ignition 8, FactoryTalk ME/SE).
  • Strong knowledge of Inductive Automation products is advantageous.
  • Experience in organizing a team and prioritizing tasks effectively.
Additional Considerations
  • Up to 20% travel may be necessary. Employees must possess a valid driver's license and the capability to travel to client and other locations.
  • Employees are responsible for managing their own expenses with reimbursement provided bi-weekly.
