Job Purpose:

The Specialty Pharmacy Refill Coordinator will offer integrated support to pharmacy personnel and Shields Health Solutions Liaisons by adopting a 'hands-on' approach to guarantee precise and timely filling and delivery of specialty medications.

This position will collaborate closely with health system pharmacy staff and Shields liaisons, emphasizing accurate workflows and utilizing technology to promote optimal patient care and efficient operations.

The individual will be tasked with making outbound calls to patients and guiding them through the entire refill process, as well as handling inbound pharmacy inquiries.


Job Duties:
Always demonstrate kindness and empathy while providing knowledgeable and courteous assistance to patients, providers, and pharmacy team members.
Conduct assigned outbound patient refill calls and complete refill requests promptly.
Address, resolve, and appropriately triage inbound inquiries.
Clarify prescription orders with pharmacists and/or clinicians as necessary.
Proactively manage medication refills, including data entry and ensuring accurate days supply for all fills.
Follow through with claim adjudication and troubleshoot reject codes.
Collaborate with pharmacy to ensure proper inventory of medications.
Identify medications that require special storage and/or handling, such as hazardous or refrigerated medications.
Recognize supplies necessary for specific medications, including sharps containers, needles/syringes, and alcohol swabs.
Properly discontinue patients from service when appropriate.
Document work accurately across all systems.
Manage, organize, and update relevant data using database applications.

Perform other duties that facilitate patient access to medications as assigned. Apply observations and recommendations to operational issues, enhancing productivity, quality, and customer service standards.

Identify trends, resolve issues, recommend improvements, and implement changes.
Actively engage in process improvement initiatives.
Serve as a value-added business partner to stakeholders throughout the organization.
Safeguard the organization's value by maintaining confidentiality of information.
Stay updated with knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining networks, and engaging in professional organizations.

Skills:
Strong interpersonal communication skills, excellent phone etiquette, highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word; ability to quickly learn new programs and extract relevant information; strong organizational skills are essential.

Education:

Required Licensure/Certification:
We are seeking experienced pharmacy technicians who are state-registered as pharmacy technicians. National certification as a CPhT or equivalent is strongly preferred but not mandatory.

Should additional licensure be required, the applicant will commit to obtaining the necessary licensure within a mutually agreed timeframe.

Continued employment is contingent upon meeting these requirements.

Years of Experience:
Required: 1+ years, Preferred: 5-8 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician. Experience collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals (preferably in a medical clinic) is advantageous.

Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
