Key Responsibilities:


• Adheres to the OneCHRISTUS Competencies, demonstrating leadership in self-management, team collaboration, or organizational leadership.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Conducts data entry and verifies patient benefit eligibility.

• Completes prior authorization requests, submits them to insurance providers, and ensures their resolution.

• Facilitates appeals processes.

• Serves as a liaison between patients and insurance entities, enhancing communication with healthcare providers and administrative personnel.

• Addresses patient inquiries regarding billing, procedures, policies, and available services.

• Manages incoming and outgoing communications concerning medication delivery and related services.

• Coordinates financial arrangements and collects co-payments.

• Operates in strict compliance with established policies and procedures.

• Ensures safe, effective, and economical medication therapies for patients in line with established protocols.

• Accurately reads, extracts, and interprets information from patient medical records.

• Identifies and reports suspected adverse drug reactions promptly and accurately.

• Coordinates educational initiatives regarding medications for patients and their families as per institutional guidelines.

• Engages in quality improvement initiatives within the department.

• Contributes to the efficient and effective functioning of the department.

• Demonstrates punctuality and reliability, adhering to scheduled work hours. Maintains attendance within policy guidelines.

• Upholds a professional appearance and demeanor, including wearing an identification badge.

• Completes tasks within designated timeframes, adapting positively to interruptions and changes in workload.

• Provides courteous and timely service to patients, visitors, and staff.

• Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Collaborates effectively with hospital and pharmacy personnel, sharing concerns and suggestions constructively to foster a team-oriented environment.

• Exercises sound professional judgment consistent with clinical and academic training.

• Maintains confidentiality regarding patient, guest, and employee information.

• Complies with all risk management, safety, security, fire, and infection control protocols.

• Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and all applicable federal and state regulations.

• Works independently with minimal supervision, effectively organizing and prioritizing tasks.

• Ensures timely delivery of pharmacy services.

• Answers phone calls professionally, identifying self and department, and directing inquiries appropriately.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a community pharmacy or health plan setting.
  • Experience in third-party billing and benefits investigation is essential.
  • Specialty pharmacy experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with QS1 billing software, EPIC EMR, and CoverMyMeds is advantageous.
  • Registered pharmacy technician in the state of practice is required.
  • Certification as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
