Key Responsibilities:

As the Artistic Team Leader at LightSpeed Studios, you will collaborate with a talented group of professionals, including game designers, technical artists, and programmers, to shape the artistic direction of our projects. You will play a crucial role in establishing and refining our art production pipeline, guiding a growing team of artists as our projects evolve.

Your Role Includes:
  • Defining the team's objectives and conducting regular one-on-one meetings to support individual career growth;
  • Leading and nurturing the art team, providing constructive feedback, training, and mentorship to both internal and external collaborators;
  • Identifying potential project risks and assisting the Art Director/Producer in evaluating and mitigating these risks;
  • Working closely with the production team to explore new business opportunities, ensuring alignment with the overall vision for product value and revenue growth;
  • Collaborating with discipline leads to scope and schedule work effectively, while communicating the vision to the team. You will also create and maintain asset schedules to ensure timely delivery of high-quality content;
  • Overseeing final deliveries and quality assurance in line with the project's artistic vision, technical constraints, and deadlines;
  • Fostering a collaborative and constructive work environment that promotes effective internal workflows and positive relationships with partners;
  • In partnership with the Art Director/Producer, assessing staffing needs and participating in the recruitment of artists.
What You Bring:
  • Proven experience in managing a comprehensive and productive art development pipeline;
  • Expertise in setting artistic benchmarks and producing high-quality assets for premium content and thematic updates;
  • Current knowledge of design trends and the monetization aspects of the gaming industry;
  • Ability to conduct competitive analysis and market research to stay informed about industry trends and monetization practices;
Qualifications:
  • At least 4 years of experience in game development, including a minimum of 1 year in a management role, with core lead credits on at least two successfully shipped titles;
  • Expertise in the monetization aspects of video games is preferred;
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a collaborative, interdisciplinary, and iterative environment while meeting deadlines;
  • Strong understanding of art fundamentals (lighting, composition, architecture, anatomy, proportion, etc.) and cultural influences (photography, films, literature, comics, etc.) relevant to video games;
  • Insight into global market trends, player behavior, and international aesthetic preferences;
  • Genuine interest in gaming and game development, with a comprehensive understanding of various genres across all platforms, alongside proficiency in industry-standard art software;
  • A talent for promoting vision and methodologies while inspiring and mentoring others;
  • Mastery of diverse artistic styles, with an open-minded approach to new ideas and perspectives.
