Position Overview:

The Division for Aging Services, part of the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), collaborates with community stakeholders to advocate for and provide essential resources and services aimed at enhancing the quality of life for older Virginians. Our mission is to ensure that Virginia remains a premier state for individuals to live, work, and age gracefully.

Role Summary:

We are in search of a dedicated Human Services Program Coordinator. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in improving the effectiveness of programs offered through Virginia's Area Agencies on Aging. This will involve providing vital information, conducting training sessions, offering technical support, interpreting program data, and ensuring adherence to both Federal and State regulations in service delivery. The goal is to enhance the quality of life for older Virginians and to promote independent living while delaying unnecessary institutionalization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on caregiver-related issues and programs within the Commonwealth.
  • Oversee the Virginia Lifespan Respite Voucher Program.
  • Facilitate the Virginia Caregiver Coalition.

Minimum Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Knowledge/Experience: Proven experience working with older adults and family caregivers, including familiarity with compliance monitoring for federal and state requirements. Experience in coordinating federal grants and analyzing complex information, along with preparing statistical and narrative reports. Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Skills/Abilities: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and Zoom. Strong capability to develop and deliver training sessions, and to communicate information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing. Competence in assessing and updating internal processes related to assigned programs.

Additional Considerations:

Understanding of local and state government operations, as well as knowledge of the Older Americans Act (OAA), is advantageous.
