Job Summary:

The Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Habilitation Therapies Director. This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and activities of the Habilitation Therapies Department, as well as long-range planning and management of the department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement therapeutic programming to meet the needs of individuals served
  • Supervise and evaluate staff to ensure effective delivery of services
  • Collaborate with the Coordinator of Habilitation Therapy Services to share best practices and ensure uniformity of procedures
  • Represent the department at local, state, and national conferences and meetings
  • Perform administrative functions, including budget tracking and personnel management
Requirements:
  • Extensive knowledge of therapy services, including state-of-the-art practices
  • Ability to plan, supervise, coordinate, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of assigned services and staff
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form to individuals or groups
  • Ability to employ administrative/management skills to make effective decisions to benefit individuals' services
  • Working knowledge of applicable ICF standards, Commissioner's Rules, TAC, Settlement Agreement provisions, and laws/regulations/professional practices
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain working relationships with staff at all levels, individuals served, parents, guardians, and other residents
  • Knowledge of methodology and program development for people with developmental disabilities
Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission and values of the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services.
