Position Title: After School Care Coordinator

Reports To: Director of Auxiliary Operations

Classification: Non-Exempt, Part-Time, 10 Month Position

Role Summary: The After School Care Coordinator plays a vital role in overseeing the after school care initiative, working collaboratively with the After School Care Staff. This team is responsible for providing supervision, engaging programming, and nurturing care for students enrolled in the Bengal Cub Club (ages 2 - Grade 4) and Homework Hangout (Grades 5-8). Additionally, upper school students (Grades 9-12) may utilize the Homework Hangout for supervision after school hours.

This position operates on a flexible schedule, typically requiring staff to work up to five days a week, Monday through Friday, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Opportunities for additional hours may arise during teacher workdays or summer sessions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in designing and executing programs and activities for students in the after school care initiative.
  • Manage daily and weekly schedules for after school staff under the guidance of the Director of Auxiliary Programs.
  • Oversee student behavior management, subject to final approval from the Director of Auxiliary Operations or the appropriate Division Director.
  • Supervise daily activities of students in the after school program as directed by the Director of Auxiliary Operations.
  • Support the Director of Auxiliary Operations in managing, setting up, and operating the CampBrain digital platform.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students enrolled in the after school program while promoting positive behavior.
  • Collaborate with fellow after school employees to ensure smooth and effective program operations.
  • Adhere to school policies and the Employee Handbook.
  • Engage with parents and classroom teachers to facilitate a positive experience for students in the after school program.
  • Assist students with homework and other educational needs.
  • Participate in required meetings or events.

Position Requirements:
  • High School diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in child care preferred.
  • Understanding of child development principles.
  • Familiarity with Google Workplace and/or the CampBrain digital platform preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of Greensboro Day School.
  • A sense of humor is appreciated.
Working Conditions:

Daily responsibilities include supervising students in both indoor and outdoor settings. Faculty are expected to participate in regular safety drills, learn CPR, apply a tourniquet, provide basic first aid, administer epi-pens as necessary, and address other student-specific health-related needs. Occasional weekend, evening, or early morning work may be required.

Physical Requirements:

Staff members supervising young children must be capable of assisting with toileting, hand washing, and other personal care tasks. They should be able to move swiftly between standing and sitting, lift up to 50 pounds, and comfortably sit on small chairs and the floor. Adequate supervision must be provided indoors and outdoors, ensuring student safety during drills and emergencies. This position may involve frequent exposure to loud sounds and high noise levels.
