The position of Afterschool Care Supervisor is essential for the successful operation of the Lower School Bengal Cub Club (BCC) and Middle School Afterschool Care programs. This role reports directly to the Afterschool Care Program Director and is classified as a non-exempt position under FLSA guidelines.
Purpose of the RoleAt Greensboro Day School, our educators are dedicated, student-focused professionals who excel in their fields. They play a crucial role in fostering the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students while cultivating a respectful and responsible classroom environment. Our teachers are committed to continuous learning and are advocates for the well-being of children, designing engaging and developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee daily activities of students in the BCC program as directed by the After-School Care Program Director.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students enrolled in BCC while promoting positive behavior.
- Assist in managing student behavior with final approval from the After-School Care Program Director.
- Collaborate with fellow BCC staff to ensure smooth and effective program operations.
- Adhere to school policies and comply with the Employee Handbook.
- Engage with parents and classroom teachers to enhance the student experience at BCC.
- Support students with their homework and academic tasks.
- Attend required meetings and events as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head of School.

- Experience in child care is essential.
- Understanding of child development principles is necessary.
This role involves supervising students in various settings, both indoors and outdoors. Faculty members are required to participate in safety drills, learn CPR, administer basic first aid, and manage specific health-related needs of students. Flexibility for occasional weekend, evening, or early morning commitments may be necessary.
Physical RequirementsTeachers working with young children must be capable of assisting with personal care tasks and must be able to move swiftly between standing and sitting positions. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds and provide adequate supervision during drills and emergencies is essential. Regular exposure to high noise levels is expected.
