JOB SUMMARY:

Under general oversight, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for executing utility infrastructure projects with efficiency and timeliness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees substantial projects including large residential developments, commercial installations, and significant system enhancements, ensuring thorough design evaluation, cost assessment, and activity oversight.
  • Coordinates with stakeholders regarding inquiries, right-of-way issues, complaints, and damage claims.
  • Engages in the capital management process by presenting project details and updates.
  • Facilitates communication of project requirements among customers, team members, and external departments.
  • Participates in project scheduling and prioritization to align with organizational and customer needs.
  • Provides mentorship and technical guidance to fellow Project Managers and Designers, identifying training requirements for team members.
  • Initiates and manages contracts related to line extensions.
  • Directs the efforts of team members assigned to specific projects.
  • May oversee coordination of gas and/or electric transmission initiatives.
  • Negotiates and manages various contracts for project execution, professional services, materials, and equipment.
  • Offers insights to the Team Manager regarding personnel matters.
  • Reviews project metrics and implements adjustments to meet team objectives.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as required.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • In-depth knowledge of gas or electric theory, design, and construction, with a foundational understanding of the other utility.
  • Ability to foster positive public relations with customers, businesses, and community leaders.
  • Proven capability to interpret industry standards for utility design and construction.
  • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory guidelines and company policies relevant to the role.
  • Experience in managing outages, inspections, and pre-construction meetings.
  • Advanced knowledge of the utility service delivery process.
  • Familiarity with right-of-way and environmental regulations.
  • Proficient in contract administration and utility line extension policies.
  • Ability to navigate complex decision-making scenarios with creativity and interpersonal skills.
  • Extensive experience in negotiating and overseeing construction contracts.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to team performance through a positive attitude and adaptability.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with customers and team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree with 7-8 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years of project management experience is required.
  • Experience in utility design or construction is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS:

Must hold a valid driver's license and comply with company driving standards.

SUPERVISORY ROLE:

May take on responsibilities of Team Manager, contributing to personnel recommendations and team objectives.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Combination of office and fieldwork, with regular outdoor activities in various weather conditions. Must manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
