Position Overview: The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is in search of a dedicated and enthusiastic Customer Support Technology Supervisor within the Management Services Division. This role will be instrumental in providing strategic direction and oversight for the Development unit of the Customer Support Help Desk.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage project requests originating from the department, ensuring effective communication and tracking through project management tools.
  • Supervise the Help Desk Projects unit, which serves as the primary support channel for both the public and departmental staff.
  • Establish a cohesive strategy for various project sub-units, including Hardware, Software Configuration, and Custom Web Application Development.

Technical Management: Oversee the management of various information systems and software, including RecTrac, Micros, Dynamics, SQL, PHP, and JavaScript. This role will also involve researching and developing software updates and new applications to enhance departmental efficiency.

Human Resources Management: Perform comprehensive supervisory functions, ensuring that unit staff are well-informed of organizational policies and procedures.

Project Oversight: Develop and implement work plans for projects, identifying objectives, key milestones, and necessary resources.

Database Management: Oversee major databases or data warehouses, ensuring effective programming, modifications, and integration across multiple platforms.

Long-Term Planning: Formulate and execute long-range automation strategies aimed at improving productivity and service delivery within the department.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management Systems, or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in information technology support roles.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience totaling seven years may be considered.

Working Conditions: This position is primarily office-based, requiring light physical effort and the ability to manage a high volume of work within tight deadlines.
