Role Summary

The Industrial Engineer plays a crucial role at Linear Motion LLC, leveraging engineering expertise and business insight to collaborate with various teams including production, engineering, quality assurance, supplier management, materials management, and program management. This position is essential for driving operational excellence and achieving the company’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize fundamental industrial engineering principles to enhance products, processes, and services in alignment with program goals.
  • Assist in the design of plant layouts, capacity planning, and the sequencing of operations to optimize workflows.
  • Engage in the assessment of innovative techniques and technologies for integration into production and service operations.
  • Contribute to the design, maintenance, and optimization of the Umbra Production System by coordinating design, supply chain, facilities, equipment, and personnel.
  • Conduct workflow analysis and design to improve efficiency.
  • Create models, databases, and spreadsheets for data analysis, providing summarized insights and metrics to leadership.
  • Support the research, design, development, and enhancement of processes and tools aimed at improving schedule performance, reducing costs, and elevating quality for large-scale systems integration.
  • Assist in the execution of facility modifications and updates to operational methods.
  • Document assembly instructions and standardize assembly procedures.
  • Participate in the preparation of operational plans, including work order analysis, budgeting, capacity analysis, and production adjustments to meet technical objectives.
  • Facilitate execution planning through project management, scheduling, and load management practices.
  • Provide support for production, supply chain logistics, and performance recovery planning.
  • Ensure compliance with established industry quality, safety, and design standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and work collaboratively across all organizational levels in a manufacturing context to creatively solve problems without direct supervisory responsibilities. Proficiency in data analysis and advanced Excel skills within a Dynamics 365 environment (or similar) is essential.

Education and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience typically gained through advanced technical education and up to two years of relevant work experience is preferred. ABET accreditation is highly regarded.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to interpret various documents including safety regulations, operating instructions, technical drawings, and government regulations is necessary. Proficiency in computer software relevant to the role is also required.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position include the ability to use hands for handling, reaching, and communication. Regular standing, walking, and sitting are required, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities necessary for this role include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

This role is situated in a manufacturing environment characterized by moderate to loud noise levels.
