Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

Means Industries is looking for a Quality Manager to oversee our quality assurance processes. This pivotal role involves ensuring that our manufactured products adhere to customer specifications, while also developing and maintaining compliance with our Quality and Environmental Management systems. The Quality Manager will lead the Quality department, managing personnel, equipment, and budget effectively.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the Management Representative for IATF and ISO 14001 systems.
  • Implement and advocate for Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Participate actively in meetings aimed at waste elimination.
  • Track and uphold the monthly goals and objectives of the Quality Department, along with weekly KPIs.
  • Manage customer interactions concerning quality-related issues.
  • Provide testing services for both internal and external clients.
  • Develop and approve gauging and inspection plans, as well as metrology techniques.
  • Oversee the creation and upkeep of quality documentation, including process flows, PFMEA, control plans, and necessary records.
  • Ensure the development and maintenance of job-specific inspection instructions.
  • Evaluate and enhance the quality performance of suppliers in collaboration with Purchasing, Materials, and Program Management.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality department and the ISO 14001 Core Team.
  • Serve as the Quality Management Representative, responsible for managing the quality system, including audits, updates, and corrective actions from nonconformities.
  • Act as the Environmental Management Representative, overseeing the environmental system, including audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the Environmental Management System (EMS) program.
  • Plan and execute external audits for quality and environmental systems.
  • Champion the corrective action process.
  • Manage in-house inspection services, including incoming parts, in-process inspections, first piece approvals, and final product audits.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality and Environmental Management Systems regarding gage calibrations and improvements.
  • Oversee customer and supplier PPAP submissions.
  • Supervise Quality Technicians and Quality Engineering staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Management, including internal auditing, within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in environmental, health, safety, and quality management, with strong skills in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Proven experience in driving transformational change.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 compliance criteria.
  • Familiarity with customer-specific requirements and industry trends.
  • Proficient in GD&T.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including familiarity with methodologies such as 8D, Ishikawa, and Pareto analysis.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Role may require extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending, and stooping.
  • Must possess excellent manual dexterity and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Travel may be required to various company, customer, and supplier locations.
  • Work is conducted in a manufacturing environment with continuous exposure to noise.
