POSITION OVERVIEW

The Automation Software Engineer plays a vital role in the creation and enhancement of PC-based software for ongoing XCT3 initiatives, while also contributing to the exploration of innovative products and design methodologies. This position requires close collaboration with various engineering and manufacturing teams from the initial design phases through to system integration, ensuring that all software specifications and client standards are achieved. The goal is to establish uniform software designs and methodologies that can be reused to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitates XCT3 testing projects from the initial concept to the final programming and commissioning at client locations.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as C++ or equivalent.
  • Develops device drivers for products interfacing with PC-based XCT3 test control systems.
  • Coordinates and oversees all software engineering activities, presenting concepts to the Controls Project Engineering Leader.
  • Complies with customer design and testing specifications.
  • Examines all technical drawings prior to final approval, ensuring alignment with project internal buyoffs and customer testing requirements.
  • Assists in managing Engineering/Project Controls budgets and timelines, ensuring designs are economically viable.
  • Guarantees adherence to all customer specifications and electrical codes relevant to the final country of ownership, promoting company awareness of these standards.
  • Generates change documentation for Controls Project Engineers and Estimating teams.
  • Supports the proposal department in project estimation and conceptualization.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from an accredited institution; or two to four years of relevant experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience. A degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.
  • Strong programming skills in C++, along with experience in developing software drivers for device configuration and communication.
  • Familiarity with LabView or similar machine control software is advantageous.
  • Experience with PLC software (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.) and Automated Test Stand product testing is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical design, circuit design, PLC programming, testing, and troubleshooting of automated systems.
  • Understanding of machine communication protocols such as Ethernet, Profinet, EtherCat, etc.
