OVERVIEW

The Automation Software Engineer plays a vital role in the design and development of PC Software for ongoing XCT3 initiatives while also contributing to the exploration of innovative products and design methodologies. This position requires close collaboration with various engineering and manufacturing teams from the initial design phases through to system integration, ensuring that all software specifications and client standards are achieved. The aim is to establish standardized software frameworks and methodologies that enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitates XCT3 testing projects from the initial concept to the final program execution and commissioning at client locations.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as C++ or equivalent.
  • Develops device drivers for products that will connect with PC-based XCT3 test control systems.
  • Coordinates and oversees all PC software engineering activities and concepts, reviewing them with the Controls Project Engineering Leader.
  • Ensures adherence to client design and testing requirements.
  • Examines all schematics prior to final approval, confirming compliance for internal project buyoffs, including test hardware as specified by the client's testing criteria.
  • Supports Engineering/Project Controls budgets and timelines, ensuring that designs are economically viable.
  • Guarantees engineering compliance with all client specifications and machine/electrical codes based on the final country of ownership, while ensuring company awareness of these specifications.
  • Generates change documentation for Controls Project Engineers and Estimating teams.
  • Assists the proposal department in project estimation and conceptualization.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from an accredited institution; or two to four years of relevant experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience. A degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in C++ programming and the development of software drivers for device configuration and communication is preferred.
  • Familiarity with LabView or similar machine control software is advantageous.
  • Experience with PLC software (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.) and Automated Test Stand product testing is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical design, circuit design, PLC programming, testing, and troubleshooting of automated systems is beneficial.
  • Understanding of machine communication protocols such as Ethernet, Profinet, EtherCat, etc.
