Pasco-Hernando State College is seeking a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach EMS courses. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, preparing, and teaching a variety of coursework.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality instruction designed to meet the educational needs of assigned students in accordance with the College's policies, procedures, and approved curricula.
- Respond to the special needs and reasonable accommodations of students with disabilities, interacting with the Director of Disabilities Services to ensure that reasonable accommodations are appropriately provided.
- Provide students with a course syllabus, which will minimally include the requirements listed in the Syllabus Template, and submit copies to the appropriate Academic Dean and Provost.
- Maintain and submit accurate grade rosters and class attendance records to appropriate College personnel within established College deadlines.
- Assess student progress and post student grades.
- Provide for the purpose of academic assistance, a minimum of one office hour per week immediately before or after class, or by appointment, for each course taught.
- Adhere to College and departmental policies.
- Participate in programs and/or activities that enhance professional development.
- Review the Full-Time Faculty and Adjunct Faculty Handbook prior to teaching classes to become familiar with the College's District Board of Trustees Rules and Internal Management Memoranda.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings, as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned by his/her immediate supervisor.
- Associate's degree in EMT or paramedic from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the United States Department of Education.
- Level A EMS education course - National Guidelines for Educating EMS Instructors, 64J-1.0201(5), F.A.C.
- Must have paramedic certification and current, unrestricted Florida paramedic licensure and a minimum of four years of experience in the pre-hospital setting with an Advanced Life Support provider and three years experience as a paramedic.
- EMT - American Heart Association BLS certification and ACLS certification.
- Paramedic - American Heart Association BLS certification and ACLS Instructor certification.
- Applicant must obtain Instructor and Provider certification in PALS and PHTLS within the first 6 months of hire.
- Occasional nights, weekends, or split-shift availability required.
- Advanced organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of students.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with all stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain detailed student records.
