Senior Vice President of Procurement Strategy

OVERVIEW:
Western Digital (WDC) is in search of a strategic, results-oriented, and impactful Senior Vice President of Procurement Strategy to harmonize strategic and tactical execution within the functional procurement landscape.
The successful candidate will craft long-term sourcing strategies and actionable initiatives to elevate operational performance while ensuring optimal purchasing value and a competitive edge.
This position may oversee various groups based on team requirements, including the procurement of capital equipment, direct and indirect materials, and services to support global operations.
This leader will serve as a strategic ally across various business functions, utilizing comprehensive analyses of suppliers, market dynamics, and operational needs to foster enduring, adaptable supplier partnerships that drive business growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Procurement Management
Supervise and enhance the complete procurement process, encompassing strategy formulation, supplier identification, sourcing execution, contract negotiations, delivery planning, procure-to-pay processes, and ongoing performance management and enhancement.
Lead critical categories within the procurement framework, which may include both Product and Non-Product related categories.Act as the primary liaison for relevant categories, both externally and internally. Responsible for cross-business commodity coordination as necessary.
Align teams around supplier strategies and consolidate the supply base.
Evaluate, develop, and implement a Purchasing outsourcing strategy.
Procurement Performance Enhancement
Ensure optimal procurement performance to secure supply, quality, cost, timing, environmental, safety, sustainability, and technological requirements in alignment with business objectives.
Guarantee continuous delivery of significant annual procurement savings through proactive cost innovation.Leverage spending for select direct materials to achieve substantially higher savings.
Meet established Key Performance Indicators (e.g., savings and Days Payable Outstanding).
Emphasize data analytics to expedite the digitization of procurement and supply chain functions, ensuring robust inventory management practices and accurate forecasting to avert shortages.
Assess and enhance the current procurement center of excellence organization.Implement global materials forecasts and drive initiatives to reduce material lead times.
Manage and optimize the supplier base by rationalizing and enforcing stringent supplier quality assurance procedures.
Leadership
Recruit, retain, and cultivate a globally diverse team while steering a transition to a new organizational model. Note that a significant portion of the procurement team is located in Asia.
Facilitate the implementation of Purchasing Contract Management, aligning processes, master data management, and negotiation timelines.
Enhance knowledge management and contract templates.
Continue to develop the skill sets of the broader Procurement organization while mentoring and nurturing key individuals.
Engage in thoughtful succession planning to build a robust pipeline of future leaders.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field. An MBA or relevant master's degree is preferred.
10+ years of experience in procurement operations management, with a focus on sourcing.
Demonstrated experience in managing complex initiatives, including technology adoption and change management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to utilize data and insights to drive business outcomes.
Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with a proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to effectively engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Familiarity with procurement regulations and standards, including risk management, compliance, and governance.
Experience in project management, process improvement, and operational excellence methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile.
