Position Summary:
Western Digital (WDC) is in search of a strategic, results-oriented, and influential Senior Vice President of Strategic Procurement. This role is pivotal in balancing strategic and tactical execution within the procurement function. As a key leader in the Procurement organization, you will enhance value through cost reduction and excellence in procurement strategy formulation and execution, supplier relationship management, and transactional procurement processes.

This executive will be responsible for developing long-term sourcing strategies and actionable initiatives aimed at improving operational performance while ensuring optimal purchasing value and competitive edge. The role may encompass oversight of various groups, including the procurement of capital equipment, direct and indirect materials, and services to support global operations.

This leader will serve as a strategic partner across various business functions, utilizing thorough analyses of suppliers, market trends, and operational requirements to foster enduring, agile supplier partnerships that drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Oversight:

  • Manage and enhance the complete procurement process, including strategy development, supplier identification, sourcing execution, contract negotiations, delivery planning, procure-to-pay processes, and ongoing performance management.
  • Lead critical categories within the procurement structure, which may encompass both product and non-product related areas.
  • Act as the primary contact for relevant categories, ensuring effective cross-business commodity coordination as necessary.
  • Align teams around supplier strategies and consolidate the supply base.
  • Evaluate, develop, and implement a Purchasing outsourcing strategy.

Performance Optimization:

  • Ensure optimal procurement performance to meet supply security, quality, cost, timing, environmental, safety, sustainability, and technological requirements aligned with business objectives.
  • Deliver continuous double-digit annual savings through proactive cost innovation.
  • Leverage spending on select direct materials to achieve significantly higher savings.
  • Meet established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as savings and Days Payable Outstanding (DPO).
  • Prioritize data analytics to enhance the digitization of procurement and supply chain operations, ensuring robust inventory management and accurate forecasting to prevent shortages.
  • Assess and enhance the current procurement center of excellence organization.
  • Implement global materials forecasts and drive initiatives to reduce material lead times.
  • Manage and optimize the supply base by rationalizing and enforcing stringent supplier quality assurance procedures.

Leadership Development:

  • Recruit, retain, and develop a globally diverse team while transitioning to a new organizational model.
  • Drive the implementation of Purchasing Contract Management, aligning processes, master data management, and negotiation timelines.
  • Enhance knowledge management and contract templates.
  • Continue to develop the skill sets of the broader procurement organization while mentoring and nurturing key individuals.
  • Engage in thoughtful succession planning to cultivate a robust pipeline of future leaders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field; MBA or relevant master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in procurement operations management, with a focus on sourcing.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex initiatives, including technology adoption and change management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to utilize data and insights to drive business outcomes.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with a proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, effectively engaging stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Knowledge of procurement regulations and standards, including risk management, compliance, and governance.
  • Experience in project management, process improvement, and operational excellence methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile.
