Job Overview

Western Digital (WDC) is on the lookout for a dynamic and strategic Senior Vice President of Procurement Strategy. This influential leader will be pivotal in harmonizing both strategic and operational aspects of the procurement function. The position will be integral to the Procurement division, ensuring that the organization excels in sourcing and supplier management.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement Leadership

Direct and enhance the comprehensive procurement process, which encompasses strategy formulation, supplier identification, sourcing execution, contract negotiations, delivery planning, and performance management.

Oversee critical procurement categories, which may include both product and non-product-related areas.

Serve as the primary liaison for relevant categories, ensuring effective coordination across business units.

Unify teams around supplier strategies and consolidate the supply base for improved efficiency.

Evaluate, develop, and implement outsourcing strategies for procurement.

Performance Optimization

Guarantee optimal procurement performance to meet security of supply, quality, cost, timing, and sustainability objectives aligned with business goals.

Achieve consistent double-digit annual savings through innovative cost management strategies.

Leverage spend for select direct materials to realize substantial savings.

Deliver on established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as savings and Days Payable Outstanding (DPO).

Utilize data analytics to enhance the digitization of procurement and supply chain operations, ensuring robust inventory management and accurate forecasting.

Assess and refine the current procurement center of excellence.

Implement global materials forecasts and lead initiatives to reduce material lead times.

Manage and optimize the supplier base by enforcing rigorous quality assurance protocols.

Leadership Development

Recruit, retain, and nurture a diverse global team while facilitating a transition to a modern organizational structure.

Drive the adoption of Purchasing Contract Management, ensuring alignment of processes and master data management.

Enhance knowledge management and standardize contract templates.

Continue to elevate the skills of the procurement team, providing coaching and development for key personnel.

Engage in thoughtful succession planning to cultivate a robust pipeline of future leaders.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field is required; an MBA or relevant master’s degree is preferred.

Over 10 years of experience in procurement operations management with a focus on sourcing is essential.

Demonstrated experience in managing complex initiatives, including technology integration and change management.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on leveraging data to drive business results.

Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a proven track record of building high-performing teams.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities, effectively engaging stakeholders at all organizational levels.

Familiarity with procurement regulations and standards, including risk management and compliance.

Experience in project management and methodologies aimed at process improvement and operational excellence, such as Lean or Six Sigma.
