Position Overview:

Western Digital (WDC) is on the lookout for a strategic, results-oriented, and influential Senior Vice President of Procurement Strategy to harmonize strategic and tactical execution within the procurement function. This role is pivotal within the Procurement organization.

The successful candidate will enhance value by minimizing costs and excelling in the development and execution of procurement strategies, supplier relationship management, and transactional procurement processes.

This executive will formulate long-term sourcing strategies and actionable plans to elevate operational performance while ensuring optimal purchasing value and competitive edge. Responsibilities may encompass the procurement of capital equipment, direct and indirect materials, and services to support global operations.

This leader will serve as a strategic partner across various business functions, utilizing thorough analyses of suppliers, market conditions, and operational requirements to foster enduring, agile supplier partnerships that drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Oversight:

  • Enhance the end-to-end procurement process, including strategy formulation, supplier identification, sourcing execution, contract negotiations, delivery planning, procure-to-pay, and ongoing performance management.
  • Lead critical categories within the procurement structure, encompassing both product and non-product related areas.
  • Act as the primary contact for relevant categories, ensuring effective cross-business commodity coordination.
  • Align teams around supplier strategies and consolidate the supply base.
  • Evaluate, develop, and implement purchasing outsourcing strategies.

Performance Optimization:

  • Ensure optimal procurement performance to secure supply, quality, cost, timing, environmental, safety, sustainability, and technological requirements in alignment with business objectives.
  • Deliver continuous double-digit annual savings through innovative cost strategies.
  • Leverage spending for select direct materials to achieve significant savings.
  • Meet committed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as savings and Days Payable Outstanding (DPO).
  • Utilize data analytics to accelerate the digitization of procurement and supply chain functions, enhancing inventory management and forecasting accuracy.
  • Assess and refine the current procurement center of excellence organization.
  • Implement global materials forecasts and drive initiatives to reduce material lead times.
  • Manage and optimize the supply base by establishing and enforcing stringent supplier quality assurance procedures.

Leadership Development:

  • Recruit, retain, and nurture a diverse global team while transitioning to a new organizational model.
  • Drive the implementation of Purchasing Contract Management, aligning processes and master data management.
  • Enhance knowledge management and improve contract templates.
  • Advance the skill sets of the broader procurement organization while mentoring and developing key personnel.
  • Engage in thoughtful succession planning to cultivate a robust pipeline of future leaders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field; MBA or relevant master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in procurement operations management, with a focus on sourcing.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex initiatives, including technology adoption and change management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, leveraging data and insights to drive business outcomes.
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with a proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, effectively engaging stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Knowledge of procurement regulations and standards, including risk management, compliance, and governance.
  • Experience in project management, process improvement, and operational excellence methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile.
