Job Overview

The Project Manager at NBCUniversal is tasked with overseeing the design and construction of immersive environments at Universal Studios Hollywood. This role encompasses various projects including retail spaces, dining establishments, facades, wayfinding graphics, kiosks, carts, and area development initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with extensive knowledge in facility design management, production techniques, and materials.

Key Responsibilities

For tenant projects, under the guidance of management:

  • Evaluate tenant design submissions and manage the review process.
  • Document feedback and communicate it back to tenants.
  • Ensure that all comments are addressed appropriately.
  • Assist tenants in understanding NBCUniversal's standards, building codes, and other requirements.
  • Monitor tenant progress and provide status updates to the team.
  • Coordinate tenant work with operational and management teams.
  • Review work to ensure quality execution.
  • Troubleshoot issues and develop alternative solutions as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with NBCUniversal policies.

For owner-initiated projects, under the guidance of management:

  • Collaborate with operating groups to define project programs.
  • Develop strategies to complete projects on time and within budget, driving them to successful completion.
  • Create and manage project budgets and schedules, providing continuous updates on project statuses with a rolling two-week look ahead.
  • Select and contract with appropriate external resources under management direction.
  • Review change orders for accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
  • Generate and manage scopes of work.
  • Lead project teams and coordinate their efforts.
  • Review work to ensure quality in design and execution.
  • Troubleshoot issues and develop alternative solutions as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with NBCUniversal policies.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of seven years in project management or construction management within hospitality, commercial, or industrial sectors.
  • Experience with construction projects or various roles within a general contractor environment, including estimating, budgeting, and field experience.
  • Strong knowledge of project accounting, estimating, scheduling, budgeting, document management, and contract management.
  • Experience in developing scopes of work and contracting documentation.
  • Proficient understanding of project management processes and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with construction materials, methods, techniques, and applicable codes.
  • Experience working with building and health department requirements.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to identify project-related risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam.
  • This position requires full-time work from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
