Position Overview:
We are in search of a Senior Principal Engineer to spearhead strategic engineering initiatives within our powertrain manufacturing division. This role focuses on ensuring the highest standards of Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. The successful candidate will provide leadership to manufacturing principal engineers, offer technical guidance for production lines, and oversee the department's investment strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership and direction to manufacturing Principal Engineers concerning mass production engineering tasks.
  • Establish a long-term investment strategy for the department, aligned with production schedules and operational conditions.
  • Serve as the technical evaluator for all new model and investment projects within the department.
  • Develop and implement engineering staffing and development plans for the department.
  • Act as a technical expert to support other North American engine manufacturing facilities.
  • Coordinate departmental activities for collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications:

Required Experience:
Minimum of 10 years in a manufacturing environment.

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Skills:

  • Understanding of Honda systems including production operations and investment committees.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of precision manufacturing machine operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and related software.

Working Conditions:

  • Onsite work environment (80% office, 20% manufacturing area).
  • Minimal travel requirements (approximately 5%).
  • Potential for overtime (5-10 hours per week).
