Role Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Support Specialist to join our Effector Power and Analog Design team. This role involves the assembly, installation, troubleshooting, and inspection of engineering circuit card assemblies, cables, and harness systems. Responsibilities include engineering prototyping, field service, and the repair of returned materials. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to modify and rework engineering micro-sized components on circuit card assemblies, prototype sub-assemblies, and harness systems according to engineering specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Modify, rework, and assemble engineering circuit card assemblies and subassemblies to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Conduct repairs on returned and damaged units to restore them to operational status.
  • Perform micro-soldering under a microscope for extended periods.
  • Construct cables and harnesses based on schematics.
  • Execute quality verification and inspection using microscopic techniques.
  • Identify, repair, and replace wire harnesses and cable assemblies as needed.
  • Replace mechanical and electrical components efficiently.
  • Utilize multi-meters or basic ohmmeters for point-to-point current connections.
  • Diagnose failures, isolate issues, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Keep management informed of potential problems or risks that may impact program schedules or quality.
  • Provide support and constructive feedback to the engineering development team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in soldering, mechanical standards, quality processes, and documentation.
  • Experience in verification and inspection aligned with established standards.
  • Familiarity with cable and harness assembly, fabrication, and rework.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in circuit card assembly manufacturing and related fabrication standards.
  • IPC J-STD-001 solder certification.
  • IPC 610 and 620 certification with inspection experience.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently or collaboratively.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced engineering support environment.
  • Familiarity with solder rework equipment and fabrication processes.
  • Strong comprehension skills for reading work instructions, schematics, and electronic blueprints.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Experience using hand tools such as soldering irons, cutters, and wire strippers.
  • Background in assembly, fabrication, and rework of micro-sized components on circuit card assemblies.
  • Possession of an existing secret security clearance.
