Position Overview

AECOM Water is currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineering Specialist to join our team.

Under moderate guidance from senior engineers, your responsibilities will include:

  • Contributing to the civil engineering design of projects related to flood management, mining, and site closure, including leach stockpiles, evaporation ponds, tailing facilities, flood control dams, and CCR closures. Opportunities for diverse projects and professional networking are available through regional collaboration.
  • Creating layouts/designs and conducting calculations/analyses for channels, culverts, headwalls, detention ponds, operating ponds, spillways, rock drains, check dams, and access roads. Designs will integrate erosion control measures, geosynthetics, and piping and pumping systems.
  • Executing hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using HEC-HMS and HEC-RAS software, along with quantity/cost estimations and alternative assessments.
  • Drafting sections of technical proposals, reports, and regulatory agency permits.
  • Collaborating with geotechnical, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
  • Providing periodic field support, which may involve construction oversight (ensuring design implementation and quality adherence), site inspections, and geotechnical assessments. Additionally, you will adapt designs to align with field conditions.
  • Generating engineering drawings and visual aids utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Participating in client meetings.
  • Building trusting relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Training junior staff in technical software and engineering practices.
  • Executing tasks with a critical perspective while applying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree with 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-6 years of relevant project experience.
  • Experience with hydraulic software applications.
  • Proficiency in Civil3D.
  • Preferred experience in project design and fieldwork.
