Role Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Support Specialist to join our Effector Power and Analog Design department. This role involves the assembly, installation, troubleshooting, repair, and inspection of engineering circuit card assemblies, cables, and harness systems. Responsibilities include engineering prototyping, field service, and the repair of returned materials. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to rework and modify engineering micro-sized components on circuit card assemblies, prototype sub-assemblies, and complete assemblies according to engineering specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Modify, rework, and assemble engineering circuit card assemblies and subassemblies to ensure compliance with established operational criteria.
  • Conduct repairs on returned and damaged units to restore them to operational status, including:
    • Micro-soldering under a microscope for extended periods.
    • Building cables and harnesses from provided schematics.
    • Performing quality verification and inspection under a microscope.
    • Identifying, repairing, and replacing wire harnesses and cable assemblies.
    • Replacing mechanical and electrical components as necessary.
    • Utilizing multi-meters or basic ohmmeters for point-to-point current connections.
    • Recognizing failures, isolating issues, and recommending appropriate corrective actions.
    • Keeping management informed of potential problems or risks that may impact program schedules or quality.
    • Providing support and constructive feedback to the engineering development team.

Qualifications Required:

  • Associate degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in soldering, mechanical assembly, quality standards, and documentation processes.
  • Experience in verification and inspection in accordance with established standards.
  • Background in cable and harness assembly, fabrication, and rework.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in circuit card assembly manufacturing and related fabrication standards.
  • IPC J-STD-001 solder certification.
  • IPC 610 and 620 acceptability certification and inspection experience.
  • Self-motivated with strong judgment and the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Experience in a fast-paced engineering technical support environment.
  • Familiarity with solder rework equipment and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, schematics, and detailed electronic blueprints.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Experience using hand tools such as soldering irons, cutters, and wire strippers.
  • Experience in assembly, fabrication, and rework of micro-sized components on circuit card assemblies.
  • Existing secret security clearance is a plus.
