ROLE SUMMARY
In this role, you will oversee intricate social and corporate catering engagements that exceed standard sales office limits. You will provide daily guidance to the catering sales team on-site.

Your responsibilities will include securing and finalizing local catering and social events, ensuring that all arrangements are executed efficiently and timely for optimal service delivery.

You will strive to meet catering revenue targets by actively promoting each business opportunity to enhance profitability.

Additionally, you will implement the brand's service strategy and relevant initiatives throughout the sales process, fostering customer loyalty through exceptional service at every interaction.


CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience:
Essential:
  • High school diploma or GED; 2 years of experience in sales and marketing, guest services, front desk, or a related field.
OR

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related discipline; no prior work experience required.

Desirable:
  • 2 years of experience in catering sales.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Management:
  • Directs sales initiatives for the property, focusing on local corporate and social catering.
  • Responds to incoming catering inquiries for the venue.
  • Identifies, qualifies, and solicits new catering opportunities to meet personal and property revenue objectives.
  • Engages with affiliate businesses related to citywide events from an approved list.
  • Analyzes the market landscape, including competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, and supply and demand dynamics.
  • Closes advantageous opportunities for the property based on market conditions and needs.
  • Utilizes negotiation skills and innovative selling techniques to finalize business deals and contracts.
  • Collaborates with management to develop and execute a catering sales strategy that addresses revenue, clientele, and market conditions.
  • Designs and promotes creative catered events.
  • Enhances revenue through package upselling and innovative food and beverage offerings.
  • Develops and oversees catering sales revenue and operational budgets, providing forecasting reports.
  • Creates menus that drive sales.
  • Assists in the promotion, implementation, and follow-up of catering initiatives.
  • Upholds Marriott's Customer Service Standards and the hotel's Brand Standards.
  • Manages the operational aspects of booked events (e.g., generating proposals, drafting contracts, and customer communication).
  • Participates in daily service practices aligned with the brand's standards.
  • Ensures a seamless transition from sales to operations and back, consistently delivering high service levels.
  • Monitors the resolution of guest issues arising from the sales process by establishing effective communication channels with property leadership and relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintains strong performance by increasing revenues, managing expenses, and ensuring a return on investment for the owner and Marriott International.
  • Handles complex social and corporate catering opportunities that exceed standard sales office parameters.
  • Provides daily oversight to on-property catering sales associates.
  • Finalizes local catering and social business, ensuring timely and proper turnover for quality service delivery.
  • Achieves catering revenue goals through proactive upselling of business opportunities.
  • Implements the brand's service strategy and relevant initiatives throughout the sales process, fostering customer loyalty through exceptional service at every interaction.

  • Performs additional duties as required to meet business needs.
Building Effective Relationships:
  • Collaborates with off-property sales channels to ensure coordinated and complementary sales efforts.
  • Engages effectively with sales teams, kitchen staff, vendors, competitors, local community, catering associations, and other hotel departments to monitor guest satisfaction.
  • Delivers exemplary customer service to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting clients and monitoring their satisfaction before and during their events.
  • Understands customer needs and recommends suitable features and services that exceed expectations, while fostering loyalty to Marriott.
  • Gains insights into the property's primary target clientele and service expectations, offering tailored business solutions before and during events.
  • Develops a strong working relationship with operations to execute strategies effectively at the property level.
The hourly pay range for this position is competitive.
