The Pre-Analytical Operations Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the intake and accessioning processes of specimens received at the CareDx clinical laboratory. This role involves managing laboratory personnel to ensure efficient specimen handling and adherence to established protocols. The Supervisor will also actively participate in specimen accessioning during peak times and in the absence of staff, contributing to a seamless workflow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the daily operations of the Laboratory Support team.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and scheduling for the accessioning function, providing support during high-volume periods and staff shortages.
  • Guarantee that all tasks are performed in alignment with departmental objectives and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with laboratory management to recruit and train new staff on accessioning and laboratory support functions.
  • Work alongside Clinical Operations to manage sample logistics and monitor incoming specimens for testing related to clinical trials and company-sponsored studies.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for specimen intake and accessioning.
  • Address employee-related issues concerning accessioning and laboratory support, working with supervisors and management to find resolutions.
  • Contribute to performance evaluations for accessioning personnel.
  • Develop and monitor quality and operational metrics, presenting findings in regular operational and quality meetings; recommend and implement process enhancements.
  • Investigate and document accessioning discrepancies and non-conformances; initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences or a comparable combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments, with experience leading initiatives to enhance process efficiency and expand the accessioning function.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a clinical laboratory setting, with a solid understanding of CLIA, CAP, and quality system principles in specimen management.
  • A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in a CLIA laboratory, showcasing strong leadership capabilities to cultivate a high-performing, team-oriented environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, across technical and non-technical areas.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office, with the ability to track key metrics and generate reports.
  • Proven track record of leading tasks to timely completion.
