About the Role:

We are in search of a proactive and highly engaged Senior Vice President of Financial Operations. This pivotal role will oversee the daily functions of our accounting division, ensuring the establishment of robust financial processes that support accurate reporting and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Accounting Management
  • Lead the accounting close process, focusing on enhancing efficiency to achieve a streamlined close cycle.
  • Assess and cultivate a high-performing accounting team, driving performance and collaboration.
  • Review and authorize journal entries and reconciliations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop analytics for balance sheets, income statements, and cash flows to support internal reporting.
  • Identify and analyze accounting implications of unique contracts to ensure proper documentation.
  • Drive the implementation of advanced systems to optimize accounting processes and reporting capabilities.
  • Prepare and review materials for external financial statements and board meetings.
Operational Excellence
  • Design and implement effective procure-to-pay processes, enhancing financial workflows.
  • Support the integration of a Contract Lifecycle Management System.
  • Oversee compliance with corporate policies regarding travel and entertainment expenses.
  • Manage treasury functions and liaise with external tax service providers.
Compliance and Internal Controls
  • Work closely with compliance teams to ensure effective financial controls are in place.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and provide training to the accounting team.
  • Coordinate audits with external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of necessary documentation.
  • Stay informed on accounting standards and regulatory changes relevant to the biotechnology sector.
Preparation for Public Offering
  • Ensure readiness for public company accounting practices and reporting timelines.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly disclosures and management discussions.
  • Support due diligence efforts and collaborate with external stakeholders during IPO processes.
Leadership and Team Development
  • Provide strategic leadership to the accounting team, fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Encourage professional growth and development within the organization.
  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance financial understanding and accountability.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, and SEC regulations.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience, with significant exposure to publicly traded life sciences companies.
  • Experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical sectors is essential.
  • Proficient in managing a global legal entity structure within financial systems.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach.
  • High integrity and professionalism, committed to ethical standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with a focus on team motivation and performance enhancement.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA certification.
  • Experience with a Big 4 public accounting firm.
