Job Overview

Objective: We are in search of a Precision Machining Specialist to efficiently set up and operate CNC and manual machinery to manufacture high-quality machined components within the pump sector.

Role Summary: The Precision Machining Specialist will autonomously configure and run CNC Lathes and Mills, along with manual lathes and mills, to create parts essential for pump assembly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently set up and operate CNC and manual machinery with minimal oversight.
  • Modify programs on CNC and manual equipment with limited supervision.
  • Develop CNC machine programs with assistance from senior staff.
  • Design and fabricate fixtures and tooling with minimal guidance from senior personnel.
  • Adjust workpiece and tooling offsets as necessary.
  • Utilize measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges to ensure finished parts meet drawing specifications.
  • Conduct secondary operations to support the machine shop, including cutting and preparing raw materials and cleaning parts as required.
  • Meet set-up and run-time efficiency goals, actively proposing and implementing ideas for process improvements.
  • Understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Complete all necessary documentation and machine shop instructions related to each task and job assignment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC and manual machinery in accordance with ISO standards.
  • Foster a culture of safety and quality within the machine shop.
  • Maintain 5S standards in designated work areas.
  • Adhere to company policies and cultural initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a 4-year Certified Apprenticeship plus 2+ years of set-up experience, or 5+ years of set-up and operational experience required.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, write routine reports, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Competence in calculations and familiarity with the metric system or the willingness to learn.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Work Environment: The work setting is climate-controlled, with regular exposure to moving mechanical components. There is limited risk of electrical shock. Noise levels in the work environment vary from quiet to moderate.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands include standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, talking, listening, and using hands to operate machinery and other equipment. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are essential. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
