CNO Financial Group's Accounting Operations Division is seeking a Senior Accounting Specialist to manage accounting and reporting duties related to general accounting activities. This includes reconciling general ledger accounts, ensuring financial systems are balanced, and maintaining precise records.


This is an opportunity to oversee communications with both internal and external stakeholders, assist with audit inquiries, investigate discrepancies, and handle various general ledger tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Executing accounting functions in alignment with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements.
  • Preparing monthly account reconciliations and analyzing variances.
  • Addressing escalated inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Preparing, distributing, and processing accounting transactions on a daily and monthly basis.
  • Conducting testing procedures and compiling documentation for projects.
  • Gathering information for internal and external audits.
  • Assisting and supervising tasks performed offshore.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

This position is well-suited for individuals who:
  • Possess a robust understanding of accounting principles.
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail.
  • Can prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Work efficiently both independently and collaboratively.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or eight years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in accounting.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA certification or in pursuit of CPA designation.
  • Experience in the insurance sector.
  • Background in shared services accounting.
  • Experience with suspense accounting.


Candidate location in Central or Eastern US time zone is preferred or willingness to work Central or Eastern time zone business hours.
