Position Title: Pay Station Clerk

Department: Grocery

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

General Overview:

The Pay Station Clerk is responsible for delivering prompt and courteous service to customers while assisting them as needed. This role involves operating the cash register, restocking supplies, and maintaining cleanliness in the work area.

Reporting Structure:

Reports to: District Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of various departments

Supervises: None

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver friendly and efficient customer service by demonstrating care and patience in all interactions.
  • Greet customers warmly, whether in the designated department or throughout the store.
  • Make an effort to learn and use customers' names to personalize their experience.
  • Assist customers by addressing their suggestions or requests and enhancing their shopping experience.
  • Answer phone calls promptly and provide helpful service to callers.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure customer satisfaction and a positive work environment.
  • Accurately operate the cash register, scanning products and managing cash levels.
  • Process various payment methods, including cash, checks, and credit cards, while ensuring accurate change is given.
  • Package merchandise for customers and ensure a supply of necessary items for their use.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the coffee service area.
  • Follow proper sanitation procedures to keep the work area clean and orderly.
  • Adhere to company policies and guidelines regarding personal hygiene and appearance.
  • Report to work as scheduled and punctually.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assist with cleaning tables in dining areas.
  • Support other departments as needed.
  • Perform other job-related tasks and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:

No specific educational requirements.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • Visual requirements include the ability to see at various distances and distinguish colors.
  • Must be capable of performing physical activities such as standing, walking, lifting, and repetitive motions.
Work Environment:

This position may involve exposure to temperature extremes and damp conditions. The work environment is fast-paced and may include hazards associated with equipment and cleaning chemicals.

Equipment Utilized:

Cash registers, calculators, telephones, and other store equipment.

Interactions:

Daily interactions with customers, co-workers, and vendors are essential to this role.
