Overview: The Workplace Health and Safety, Facilities, Engineering, and Construction Team is in search of a Global Process Safety Manager (PSM). This pivotal role will spearhead strategic initiatives and cultivate business partnerships on a global scale. The individual will champion the PSM vision and strategy, ensuring uniformity in the execution and management of process safety risks across worldwide operations, with a specific emphasis on hydrogen fuel utilization and its associated safety challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver process safety leadership across all Amazon business units, assessing the safety and acceptability of potential projects within Amazon's risk framework.
  • Develop compliance tools aligned with Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) Process Safety Management (PSM) standards, including conducting Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) for the inspection, evaluation, identification, and prioritization of potential process hazards.
  • Assess process safety risks and recommend appropriate controls, while coordinating the creation of Process Safety Information and serving as a liaison for collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders on control solutions.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to individuals engaged in process safety enhancement activities, including the development and delivery of training on process safety topics and the reporting of leading metrics and best practices.
  • Lead and/or engage in incident investigations related to PSM, participate in risk assessment teams, and conduct EHS self-assessments and audits.
  • Support comprehensive Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) programs, systems, and processes, including being available for emergency on-call situations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in program or project management.
  • 10+ years of experience in cross-functional project delivery.
  • 10+ years of experience collaborating with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Proven experience in defining program requirements and utilizing data and metrics for improvement.
  • 10+ years of team management experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Advanced degree in Chemical Engineering or a Master's degree in Safety or a related engineering discipline.
  • Five years of combined experience in risk assessment techniques such as Process Hazard Assessment (PHA), Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and Risk Assessment & Prioritization (RAP).
  • Ten years of safety experience with a focus on process safety management in various environments.
  • Familiarity with chemical processing equipment and facilities.
  • Understanding of process engineering work, including safety relief demand scenarios and the basic functions of hydrogen unit operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in a related safety engineering field.
  • Experience in relevant standard development committees (e.g., ISO, EIC, Machinery Directive) and industry groups.
  • Certification in Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean manufacturing, or process improvement methodologies.
