Qualifications

Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required, along with a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience in administrative support, analytical roles, or public safety.

Experience Substitution: Relevant full-time work in public safety or administrative roles may substitute for educational requirements on a year-for-year basis, up to four years. Additionally, graduate coursework in related fields may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis, up to two years.

Special Requirements: Candidates must meet specific qualifications, including:

  1. Being at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  2. U.S. citizenship.
  3. Possession of a valid driver's license may be necessary for certain roles.
  4. Ability to qualify for and carry assigned equipment as required.
  5. Eligibility for a security clearance as mandated by agency regulations.
  6. Good moral character as determined by a thorough background investigation.
  7. Successful completion of a physical and psychological evaluation as per the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance on complex emergency management practices to various agencies.
  2. Assist in the development and management of emergency management programs, including the creation of key components as directed.
  3. Lead and mentor other Emergency Management Specialists, ensuring effective program administration and financial oversight.
  4. Conduct data analysis to support the development and management of emergency programs.
  5. Coordinate personnel and resources during emergencies to assist local, state, and federal agencies in response efforts.
  6. Facilitate training and presentations on emergency management topics for stakeholders.
  7. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding emergency management processes.
  8. Lead emergency management activities during state operations and recovery efforts.
