Travel Requirements: Frequent travel is anticipated for this role (50% - 85% on average).
Supervisory Duties: None
Compensation: Negotiable, based on skills and experience.

Role Overview:
National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is in search of a Railway Safety Supervisor (RWIC) to facilitate railroad flagging operations for Class 1 Railroads, Regional Short Lines, Transit Systems, State Departments of Transportation, as well as Railroad Suppliers, Contractors, and Consultants.

Essential Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Experience Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years of experience with a Class 1 Railroad, Regional Short Line, Transit System, State DOT Rail Division, Railroad Supplier, Railroad Contractor, and/or Railroad Consultant; preferably within the Maintenance Of Way (MOW) Department.

Job Requirements:

  • Proficient in basic computer skills including email and messaging applications.
  • Familiarity with Android OS on tablets and smartphones.
  • Experience with Citrix Applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Technical knowledge in Railroad Engineering, Design, Construction, and Safety.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail; well organized.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods.
  • Ability to successfully complete required training.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate activities at job sites.
  • Communicate effectively with Dispatchers, Train Crews, and other personnel.
  • Conduct thorough job briefings with all personnel on-site.
  • Enforce compliance with all applicable policies.
  • Identify and address rule violations according to established guidelines.
  • Ensure Contractor training requirements are met.
  • Prepare daily field reports detailing activities.
  • Provide On-Track Safety in accordance with federal regulations.

Work Environment:
This position operates primarily in a field setting.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to drive long distances and/or utilize other modes of transportation as necessary.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods and navigate various terrains.
  • Visual acuity to see at varying distances and perceive colors.
  • Ability to endure extreme temperatures and dusty/noisy conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
