Overview

Under the guidance of the Director of Operations, this role is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily functions of the facility, which includes the arena, exhibition hall, and meeting spaces. This encompasses engineering, maintenance, event setup/changeovers, custodial services, and grounds maintenance. The position provides strategic administrative planning, direction, and policies to operational managers and supervisors, ensuring a high-quality service program that guarantees client satisfaction. Additionally, this role assists in the formulation and management of the annual budget for the Operations Department and offers comprehensive management support to the Director of Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Preferred Bachelor's or Technical degree from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in operations or event management within an arena, convention center, or public assembly venue, demonstrating progressive supervisory responsibilities.
  • General understanding of facility management.
  • Capability to lead, supervise, and direct operational teams.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Familiarity with budget preparation and management.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • Self-driven with strong organizational abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid forklift license; Forklift Certification is preferred (training will be provided if necessary).
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid state driver's license.
Qualifications
  • Assists the Director of Operations in overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of the facility and its systems, including HVAC, sound, lighting, fire safety, and communication systems.
  • Schedules and supervises assistant operations managers, operations supervisors, maintenance technicians, and building services supervisors.
  • Provides management oversight for custodial services, including daily cleaning, pre-event, event, and post-event cleaning, as well as routine operations and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Oversees the administration of part-time staff: hiring, training, evaluating, and motivating personnel.
  • Supports and manages the Operations department regarding event setup and teardown, including basketball floors, stage risers, chairs, and tables.
  • Reviews payroll, tracks purchase orders, and submits labor reports for event settlements.
  • Assists in negotiating and managing contracts with external vendors for services such as pest control, scoreboard systems, and seasonal landscaping.
  • Participates in the development and management of the Operations Department budget; forecasts future staffing, equipment, materials, and supply needs; monitors and approves expenditures.
  • Orders supplies and materials for building maintenance within budgetary constraints.
  • Acts as a co-liaison with various services for facility-related functions, including compliance with city codes, fire safety codes, licenses, and permits.
  • Ensures compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Represents the Operations Department in the absence of the Director of Operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
