Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is in search of a proficient and committed Audiovisual Program Supervisor to oversee and direct the daily functions of our Engineering & Design Team. We value diversity and believe that a wide range of backgrounds strengthens our organization.

Role Summary

The Audiovisual Program Supervisor will be responsible for managing a team dedicated to programming, system design, integration, and project oversight. This position entails centralized coordination of audiovisual projects, resource management, contractor oversight, and quality assurance/control to guarantee the effective delivery of audiovisual services across various environments, including classrooms, lecture halls, and event venues. Exceptional leadership, technical knowledge, and organizational capabilities are vital for upholding high standards of quality and efficiency in our audiovisual operations.

Essential Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience (3-5 years) in audiovisual project oversight and operations, including supervisory or leadership roles.
  • Proficient in developing scopes of work, project timelines, risk assessments, resource allocation, and other project documentation.
  • Strong technical expertise in audiovisual systems, equipment, and software, with practical experience in installation, setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities to inspire and collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Robust organizational skills to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment while ensuring budget compliance and proactive risk management.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices concerning audiovisual operations, safety, and compliance.
  • Proficient in computer applications and software tools relevant to audiovisual operations, including AV control systems, video and audio configuration, video conferencing platforms, and project management tools.
  • Experience in conducting inspections, audits, and quality assurance/control activities within an audiovisual context to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to perform site visits and inspections on active construction sites, utilizing ladders, scaffolding, and similar equipment.
  • Experience in fostering a diverse environment or a commitment to promoting diversity as a staff member.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree or additional certifications in relevant fields such as Avixa CTS, PMI PMP, or Google Project Management.
  • Extensive experience in managing audiovisual projects or programs in a comparable setting.
  • Familiarity with emerging audiovisual technologies, trends, and best practices.
  • Experience in vendor management, procurement, and contract review and application.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs for audiovisual personnel.
  • Proven ability to encourage innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within a team or organization.
  • Capability to lift up to 35 lbs.
