The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly qualified Welding Instructor/Program Head to join our team at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. As a key member of our faculty, you will be responsible for teaching and developing curriculum for our welding program, as well as providing leadership and guidance to our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach welding courses to students at various skill levels, including introductory and advanced courses
  • Develop and implement curriculum for our welding program, including course syllabi and assessments
  • Provide guidance and support to students, including academic advising and career counseling
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to develop and implement program goals and objectives
  • Participate in departmental and college-wide committees and initiatives

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in welding or a related field, or a bachelor's degree with significant experience in the field
  • 5 years of experience in welding education or a related field
  • Valid Virginia driver's license and ability to operate a state vehicle
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and operate a forklift

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent in the teaching field and welding teaching experience
  • AWS and/or NCCER Certifications
  • Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level
  • Interest and/or experience in engaging students in campus life outside the classroom
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with culturally diverse student populations, be committed to quality instruction, scholarship, and academic integrity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with evidence of successful work experience as a team member
