Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is looking for a talented and experienced Audiovisual Operations Manager to oversee and direct the daily functions of our Engineering & Design Team. We value diversity and inclusivity, recognizing that a wide range of perspectives strengthens our organization.

Role Summary

The Audiovisual Operations Manager will be responsible for supervising a team dedicated to programming, system design, integration, and project oversight. This position requires centralized coordination of projects, resource management, contractor oversight, and quality assurance to guarantee the effective delivery of audiovisual services across various environments, including classrooms, event venues, and multimedia installations. Exceptional leadership, technical knowledge, and organizational capabilities are vital for maintaining high standards of service and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrated experience (3-5 years) in managing audiovisual projects and operations, including leadership roles.
  • Expertise in developing scopes of work, project timelines, risk assessments, resource allocation, and comprehensive project plans.
  • Strong technical skills in audiovisual systems, equipment, and software, with practical experience in installation, setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities to inspire and collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment, ensuring delivery within budget and effective risk management.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to audiovisual operations, safety, and compliance.
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications and tools utilized in audiovisual operations, including AV control systems, video/audio configuration, and project management platforms.
  • Experience in conducting inspections, audits, and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with all operational standards.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to perform site visits and inspections in active construction settings, including the use of ladders and scaffolding.
  • Experience fostering a diverse and inclusive environment or a commitment to doing so.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree or relevant certifications such as Avixa CTS, PMI PMP, or Google Project Management.
  • Extensive experience managing audiovisual projects in a comparable environment.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and trends in the audiovisual field.
  • Experience in vendor management, procurement, and contract evaluation.
  • Background in developing and delivering training programs for audiovisual personnel.
  • Proven ability to encourage innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within a team.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 35 lbs.
