About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacist to join our Specialty Pharmacy team at the University of Michigan. As a Clinical Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in delivering comprehensive services to patients receiving self-administered specialty medications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement clinical services, including patient assessment, medication review and reconciliation, patient education, and regular follow-up with patients.
  • Apply knowledge and expertise of specialty disease state management to develop and implement clinical services.
  • Support clinic providers in selecting appropriate specialty medication(s) and responding to patient-specific drug information requests.
  • Write insurance coverage appeal letters for specialty medications.
  • Provide functional supervision of technical staff and contribute to accreditation maintenance and renewal.
  • Precept pharmacy students and residents.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in the State of Michigan.
  • A controlled Substance license or eligibility to become licensed within 90 days of employment start date.
  • Ability to perform a variety of manual dexterity movements, including keyboarding.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Some experience in clinical pharmacy practice is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY1/2 residency.
  • Credentialed as a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialty (BCPS) or Board-Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP) by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties or as a Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP) by Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board (SPCB).
  • Specialty, ambulatory care, and Medication Therapy Management (MTM) experience.
