The University of Michigan seeks a visionary and experienced Chief Pharmacy Officer/Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs to lead the Department of Pharmacy Services. This senior leadership position requires a collaborative and strategic leader who can provide direction, leadership, and management of the department, ensuring the provision of contemporary pharmacy services to inpatients and outpatients through highly reliable, safe, and efficient medication use systems.
Key Responsibilities- Direct Health System Pharmacy Services: Oversee the delivery of pharmacy services across the statewide system of care, ensuring high-quality patient care and safety.
- Strategic Vision Development: Develop and implement a strategic vision for pharmacy services that aligns with the University of Michigan's organizational strategy, driving continuous assessment and improvement in the quality of care and services provided.
- Leadership and Management: Recruit, retain, and develop a highly skilled professional staff, ensuring staffing meets patient care needs and managing large budgets effectively.
- Medication Use System Design: Oversee the design, implementation, and management of a safe and effective medication-use system, ensuring pharmacists are positioned to improve the quality and safety of medication use throughout the health system.
- Collaboration and Partnerships: Collaborate and partner with physicians, nurses, hospital administrators, and other stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and excellence in pharmacy services.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and national regulatory bodies, as well as Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) initiatives within the health system.
- Education: Doctor of Pharmacy or Master of Science degree required; completion of residency in health system pharmacy administration or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Minimally ten years of progressively responsible senior health-system pharmacy leadership in an academic medical center or complex health system, with a demonstrated track record of developing and implementing a strategic vision for pharmacy services.
- Knowledge and Skills: Current license to practice as a Pharmacist in the State of Michigan, effective communication and mentoring skills, and extensive knowledge of medication safety procedures and current trends in contemporary pharmacy service provision.
