Position Overview: In collaboration with the Research Pharmacy/Allergy Assistant Director, this managerial role will oversee and guide the operations of the Research Pharmacy (RP).

The incumbent will be tasked with developing, enhancing, and managing the clinical trial services offered by the RP, focusing on study management, including initiation and ongoing study maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily study management activities associated with the RP portfolio.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of new studies in collaboration with RP pharmacist leads, RP Portfolio Coordinator, and finance teams.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment with the broader research mission and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all institutional, departmental, and governmental policies and regulations.
  • Conduct quality assurance and distribution activities, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Perform RP duties as required.
  • Work closely with physician and leadership teams to develop and implement quality and process improvements to enhance patient care and RP services.
  • Manage human resources responsibilities, including hiring, terminating, or promoting staff.
  • Impact budgeting, cost control, planning, scheduling, and procedural changes.
  • Conduct management duties such as interviewing, selecting, and training employees; directing their work; and evaluating their performance.
  • Supervise assigned staff and coordinate the training and discipline of technicians and pharmacists.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for clinical research and pharmacy services.
  • Contribute to the education and professional development of pharmacy students and interns.
  • Lead initiatives to validate and document the competence of technical staff.
  • Participate in research and quality improvement activities aligned with institutional goals.
  • Maintain documentation for regulatory compliance and assist in identifying new programs and services.
  • Facilitate study activation in the RP.
  • Provide functional oversight and guidance to RP pharmacists and coordinators regarding study management.

Other Duties: Adhere to all institutional standards and contribute positively to continuous improvement initiatives.

Engage in departmental committees and teams as assigned.

Assume responsibility for personal and professional development through ongoing education and training.

Qualifications:

  • Active licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in the State of Michigan.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with relevant residency or clinical experience.
  • 3 to 5+ years of pharmacy experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 1 to 2+ years of supervisory experience in pharmacy.
  • 1 to 2+ years of experience in a research pharmacy setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Work Schedule: Primarily day shift with on-call responsibilities.

Work Location: This position will oversee team members in a hospital environment.

Additional Information: Compliance with occupational health requirements is mandatory.

Supervision: General supervision is provided by the RP Assistant Director, with functional supervision over various pharmacy staff.
