Professional Liability Claims Analyst

Our Claims division distinguishes itself through a commitment to excellence. Our adept Claims professionals leverage their specialized knowledge to manage intricate claims with precision. As a Professional Liability Claims Analyst, you will be instrumental in overseeing and resolving claims associated with various primary and excess professional liability policies. This may encompass public company directors & officers ("D&O") liability policies, financial institution D&O and errors & omissions ("E&O") policies, as well as insurance company and insurance agents & brokers E&O policies, fiduciary liability policies, and employment practices liability policies. You will collaborate closely with your supervisor to facilitate claim resolutions and engage with regional practice leaders, professional underwriters, brokers, and clients on assigned accounts, taking ownership of significant issues related to claims management.

Key Responsibilities

What will your core responsibilities entail?
  • Proactively managing assigned professional liability claims across diverse lines of business, including initial assessments, drafting coverage letters, formulating resolution strategies, and maintaining communication with stakeholders and claims management to secure optimal outcomes for clients and the organization.
  • Utilizing advanced technical skills to address complex and challenging claims within your authority and area of expertise.
  • Collaborating with internal and external legal counsel to establish and implement effective and cost-efficient litigation strategies for claims in litigation, in alignment with best practices.
  • Coordinating communications with internal colleagues and key external stakeholders (e.g., clients, brokers, reinsurers, vendors), ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service.
  • Ensuring comprehensive documentation is maintained in the claim file and adherence to Claims Handler Guidelines and protocols.
  • Managing expenses through strategic expense management and claims best practices.
  • Assisting underwriters with policy reviews and engaging in external marketing and business development initiatives. Sharing insights and trends to enhance risk assessment and underwriting processes.
  • Participating in quality review processes and striving to identify new and improved methodologies. Embracing both short-term and long-term improvement initiatives.
  • Generating internal reports to support best practices and reserving guidelines. Following established claim alert processes.
  • Identifying, monitoring, and reporting on emerging liability and coverage trends.
  • Mentoring less experienced colleagues and exemplifying best practices.
You will report to the Claims Manager.

Required Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree is required; Juris Doctor (JD) is mandatory.
  • Experience: Preferred background in handling professional liability claims. Familiarity with relevant regulations. Proven experience in managing, negotiating, and resolving high-exposure and complex claims.
  • Licensing: Insurance adjuster licenses for all states that require them or a willingness to obtain such licenses promptly upon employment.
  • Proactive Claims Management: Ability to proactively oversee assigned claims across various lines of professional liability. Anticipate needs and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining quality.
  • Analytical and Technical Proficiency: Strong analytical and technical skills to navigate complex claims. Sound judgment is essential.
  • Collaborative Approach: Ability to work collaboratively with claims management on significant losses. Develop and maintain productive relationships with all stakeholders, including insureds, brokers, claim handlers, underwriters, and legal counsel.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the highest level of customer service.
  • Ethical Standards: Conduct responsibilities with integrity and professionalism.
  • Focus on Continuous Improvement: Willingness to ask questions and explore innovative ideas. Commitment to enhancing technical skills and claims capabilities.
