Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and resolve assigned professional liability claims across diverse lines of business, including initial assessment, drafting coverage communications, and developing resolution strategies while maintaining clear communication with all stakeholders.
- Utilize advanced technical skills to address complex claims within your authority and specialization.
- Collaborate with internal and external legal counsel to establish effective litigation strategies for claims in dispute, adhering to best practices in litigation management.
- Coordinate communications with internal teams and key external partners, ensuring exceptional customer service is delivered consistently.
- Ensure comprehensive documentation is maintained in claim files, adhering to established Claims Handler Guidelines and protocols.
- Oversee expense management through prudent financial practices and claims best practices.
- Support underwriters in policy evaluations and engage in external marketing and business development initiatives, sharing insights to enhance risk assessment and underwriting processes.
- Participate in quality review processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and embracing initiatives for both short and long-term enhancements.
- Generate internal reports to support best practices and reserving guidelines, following established claim alert processes.
- Monitor and report on emerging trends in liability and coverage.
- Mentor junior colleagues, exemplifying best practices in claims handling.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor (JD) are mandatory.
- Experience: Prior experience in handling professional liability claims is preferred, along with a solid understanding of relevant regulations.
- Licensing: Must possess or be willing to obtain necessary insurance adjuster licenses.
- Proactive Claims Management: Demonstrated ability to manage claims proactively across various professional liability lines, with a focus on anticipating needs and prioritizing effectively.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical capabilities to navigate complex claims, coupled with sound judgment.
- Collaborative Approach: Proven ability to work collaboratively with claims management on significant losses and maintain productive relationships with all stakeholders.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and present effectively.
