Audacy is in search of a skilled and dynamic professional to take on the role of Chief Engineer. This position is pivotal for overseeing our technical operations and ensuring the seamless functioning of our broadcast services.

The expected salary range for this position is between $50,000 and $60,000 annually, contingent upon the applicant's education, experience, skills, and location, as well as internal and external equity considerations.

Responsibilities

Key Duties Include:

  • Ensure the integrity of all on-air and online products, including FM, HD, and AM transmissions, as well as digital audio and streaming services.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all equipment related to the broadcast radio station, including transmitters, antennas, satellite downlinks, automation systems, studio equipment, remote equipment, generators, and telephone systems.
  • Set up broadcast equipment at various locations, ensuring adherence to best engineering practices.
  • Assist in the planning and development of technical facilities, including studios, transmitters, telephone systems, satellite links, computers, and data networks.
  • Develop instructional materials and train operators on the use of technical equipment and systems.
  • Address and facilitate building maintenance issues.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors for technical support.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in maintaining broadcast facilities, with hands-on support for FM radio transmitters and modern studio equipment.
  • Fundamental knowledge of computer systems and IT infrastructure is essential, including proficiency in Google applications (GMail, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides). Experience with contemporary digital audio systems such as Wide Orbit, Vox Pro, and Livewire is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Capability to provide on-call support 24/7 on a rotating basis with the Chief Engineer for equipment failures.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with experience in remote troubleshooting via video conferencing tools.
  • A valid driver's license and satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in component-level troubleshooting.
  • An associate's degree in electronics is preferred.
  • Familiarity with high voltage, RF safety, generators, backup power systems, and satellite downlink facilities.
  • Knowledge of FCC regulations and standards.
  • Experience in project planning and execution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, alongside strong customer service abilities.
  • SBE Certification is a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The role requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, and using hands to handle tools and controls. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and possess specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
